Why the New Changes?
Changes to the CMA exam are a result of a comprehensive job analysis study conducted by the ICMA. The CMA exam content was adjusted to help professionals remain relevant and current in an ever-evolving field especially considering all the technological advancements being integrated into almost every business like Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and much more.
The updated exam structure aims at equipping accounting and finance professionals with the proper knowledge, skills, and competencies that are necessary for today’s practice. According to the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), CMAs need to be “future-ready” and these changes will help get them there.
